MARINER 9 ORBITER INFRARED INTERFEROMETER SPECTROMETER (IRIS) DATA PAGE

Distribution of Mariner 9 IRIS Data in Heliocentric Longitude Distribution of Mariner 9 IRIS Data in Local Time

Above are shown the spatial and temporal distributions of the infrared spectra obtained with the Mariner 9 IRIS instrument during that orbiting missions' lifetime spanning Ls 293 (MY 9) through Ls 98 (MY 10).

The DATA contained within the Mariner 9 IRIS PDS archive are provided in the form of spectral intensity measurements (W cm-2 cm-1 sr-1) at 1500 wavenumbers with a spectral resolution of 1.174753507 cm-1 spanning the range from 199.72 cm-1 to 1960.675 cm-1. The data themselves are presented in tabular BINARY form in the m9_iris.dat file within the data folder within the archive mr9_1001. The IRIS instrument is described within the inst.cat file located in the catalog folder, and the IRIS data are described in the dataset.cat file in that same folder located within the mr9_1001 archive structure..
