| Proposal Summary: | |
| We will expand the capabilities of the EPIC atmospheric model and apply the model to the study moist thermodynamics and cloud dynamics on Jupiter and Saturn and the general circulation of Venus and Titan. Model developments will include upgrading to the hybrid isentropic-sigma vertical coordinate, improved moist thermodynamics, and improved subgrid-scale and boundary-layer processes. For Jupiter and Saturn, the main question is how the hydrological cycle influences and interacts with the jets and eddies. For Venus and Titan, the main question is the sensitivity of superrotation to atmospheric structure, topography, forcing, and model resolution. | |
