| Proposal Summary: | |
| Galileo EPD observations indicate the presence of field-aligned beams
of energetic electrons that are thought to ogiginate from an
acceleration process at low altitude in the Jovian upper atmosphere.
Similar distributions which are peaked in the direction of the
magnetic field are characteristically found in record mode data taken
throughout the middle magnetosphere. These field-aligned distributions
extend to energies of several hundred keV in the magnetospheric region
that maps to the Jovian auroral zone (6 | |
