Proposal Summary:
The Galileo encounter has provided a wealth of hot particle data from which hot ion distribution functions may be determined. The distributions will be determined using techniques previously developed and recently improved in order to reveal the global flow velocity, composition, and temperature of hot protons, sulfur ions, and oxygen ions. The resulting parameter set will be posted on the Galileo EPD WWW site and scientific analysis will commence in order to characterize and understand the global magnetospheric configura- tion, convection, and hot particle energization mechanisms operating at Jupiter.
