JOVIAN SYSTEM DATA ANALYSIS PROGRAM PROPOSAL SUMMARY
ROSS-98 NRA 98-OSS-05 Confirmation #: 99-080Date Received: Jun 17, 1998
This proposed research is intended to study the physics and chemistry of materials, including sulfur and hydrated salts, which are believed to occur on the satellites of Jupiter, and to investigate compositional information that lays hidden in Galileo data acquired from the camera (SSI) and spectrometer (NIMS) systems and the Hubble Space Telescope. We wish to look for evidence of geologically important minor volatile constituents on Io, the effects of natural radiation on salts believed to occur on Europa, and the roles of salts in aqueous solutions pertaining to the geology of Europa.
